Full time employees: Core+Plus Plan
Through Core+Plus, our flexible benefits program, NWH provides a choice of insurance protection to meet the diversified needs of our workforce. Under our flexible benefits program, Core Plus, the hospital provides a “core” of insurance benefits to all employees on the first of the month following 3 full months of continuous service. Within this program, the employee is offered a choice of coverage:
Health Care Options:
Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) is the exclusive insurance carrier for our medical plans. Employees can choose from the Premiere PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) and Basic EPO (Exclusive Provider Organization). Both plans will use the Empire PPO network, which provides the highest level of provider access. Comprehensive vision benefits will be available under both plans.
If an employee has medical coverage through a spouse’s plan or from another employer, the employee may choose to ‘opt out’ of medical coverage. The employee will receive a cash allowance to use on additional benefits or as a net addition to the employee’s pay.
Domestic Partners are eligible to participate in our group health plan. Please see our Forms section for further information and eligibility requirements.
Under the Core+Plus program, all full time employees are eligible for employer paid basic life insurance up to 1x annual salary up to a maximum of $50,000 and basic long-term disability benefits up to 40% of your monthly salary up to $6,000. Full time employees are also eligible to purchase supplemental life insurance and supplemental long-term disability

Part Time Employees:
Part time employees are entitled to the same health care options that are offered to full time employees. Benefit eligibility becomes effective on the first of the month following 6 full months of continuous service.
Dental Plan
NWH offers all full and part time employees the option to purchase, at group rates, individual or family dental coverage through payroll deduction. The eligibility is the same as for Core+Plus. The dental plan is offered in 2 levels by Delta Dental.
