We have Received Magnet Recognition!
On February 14, we received a call from the American Nurses Credentialing Center informing us that we have received Magnet Recognition! This prestigious award follows extensive review of our written application and completion of a site survey, which was conducted last December. The Chair of the Magnet Commission said it was her ‘high honor and privilege’ to award us with Magnet Recognition. She referenced our ‘wonderful application’, ‘extraordinary exemplars’, ‘patient centered care model’ and ‘’how our nurses work with interdisciplinary colleagues’. She also said they were ‘impressed with our high patient satisfaction scores’ and thanked us for serving our patients and community. NWH is now one of 19 hospitals in New York State to be Magnet Recognized and is the only hospital in the United States designated as both a Planetree Hospital with Distinction and a Magnet Recognized Hospital!
This is a significant accomplishment for our entire organization! Congratulations and thank you to everyone for your hard work and commitment to quality, which made this possible. We will hold a celebratory event on March 7 (details to follow), including the closing games of our Race to Magnet Gold Olympics where we will announce the winning Olympic teams. All are welcome!
Offsite Parking
As we plan to break ground on a new parking garage on the South parking lot, we face a significant loss of parking spaces for a period of about 1 year. Ensuring that patients, visitors and physicians continue to have convenient on-site parking must remain our top priority. In order to complete construction of the parking structure, we want to inform you that all staff who work days or evenings during the week will need to be assigned to park offsite for the period of this construction. We anticipate the offsite parking to begin this March, pending approval from the Town of New Castle.
As you are aware, many staff members have been parking offsite since 2008, when we began construction of the new Emergency Department. These changes will have no impact on those staff members who are already assigned to park at Chappaqua Crossings.
NWH provides ongoing shuttle service to and from Chappaqua Crossing and to the MetroNorth Train station to accommodate our staff (Monday through Friday). We will be significantly increasing the hours, frequency and capacity of our buses to accommodate the added staff. Be assured that Chappaqua Crossings and the shuttle service provide safe and ample parking, and frequent door to door service to and from NWH.
We understand this will be inconvenient for you. However, we strongly believe our temporary sacrifice is necessary to solve our parking problem once and for all, and to enhance the Hospital’s ability to provide outstanding care to our community. The project is expected to be completed within one year, and once the garage is complete there will be enough parking spaces on campus for all staff.
More details about exactly when this will begin for you, including the hours and schedule of shuttle services, will be distributed well in advance of the implementation. Should you have questions or concerns in the meantime, please e-mail the NWHparkinghotline@nwhc.net or call the NWH Parking Hotline at (914) 666-1850.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
